FHNW Campus in Windisch, Switzerland

I hold fully qualified teacher status for grades 1-10 in Germany (Baden-Wurttemberg) and for grades 7-9 in Switzerland. My qualification is for the subjects geography (incl. social studies), English and mathematics.

Additionally I hold an M.A. in European Bilingual Education, an MA in Jewish education, an additional qualification in Intercultural Education/Foreigner Pedagogy and a Dr. phil. degree in geography, with a doctoral thesis that focused on geography education.

I am an experienced teacher educator and researcher, having started working at the university level in 2007. First, I worked at the Heidelberg University of Education in Germany (2007-2015) in various positions (research assistant/associate, adjunct lecturer, fellowship holder, substitute professor for physical geography and its education). From 2015 to 2023 I worked at the School of Education FHNW in Switzerland, first as a senior reader in geography and geography education, then with a joint appointment as senior reader in geography, Jewish studies and their education. Since 2017 I also was the subject coordinator for the new integrated subject RZG (Spaces-Times-Societies, i.e. Social Studies). I have been volunteering as a webmaster and board member for the IGU-CGE.

Now I am an independent scholar and have my own company, Raised Grounded LLC. As an independent contractor, I still teach at the School of Education FHNW and work on a research project there. I’m also working on bringing my expertise to a wider audience.
