This semester was the third time a GEOFD22 course collaboratively worked on and published a mini-research project (in German).
The first time (autumn term 2017) was about how teachers choose spatial examples.
The second time (autumn term 2018) was about whether and how geography education research makes it into the lesson planning of teachers.
This time (autumn term 2019) it’s about outdoor learning, using the example of ‘Dark Tourism‘. Where have the teachers already been (e.g. concentration camps, rockslide Goldau, 9/11 memorial)? How do they inform themselves before visiting such a place with a class? How do teachers choose spatial examples for lessons and as outdoor learning locations? What are their aims for visiting such a learning location? What advice would they give other teachers?
Each semester is different, but the process and especially the results are always interesting.
